The Plasma is Dead

Last night, in the middle of ESPN news, the plasma died. There was a loud bang similar to the sound of a gun in the distance, a little bit of smoke, and then...... nothing. Dead as a doornail. The funny thing about it, two minutes before it happened, my S.O. said, "I think we're watching the tv die. I think it's like dying right before our eyes." So we continued to watch it as the bottom of the screen got dimmer and dimmer. Then BAM! POOF!! Dead.

We bought this Zenith back in April of 2005. I remember because it was a month before Mini Me was born. My S.O. looked online to see if perhaps this has happened to other Zenith customers. He learned that Zenith was bought out by LG and LG has been issuing extended warranties because this is a rather common occurrence. I consider us lucky to have had her for 4 years because others reported problems after one year, 6 months, and some poor guy only had his for 30 thirty days!

If you Google "My Plasma Zenith went POP", the first thing you will see is something regarding a Zenith tv whose model is very similar to ours. There are a list of complaints that follow suit.

So what do I do now without my little 42"? I feel like a piece of me has died. I don't watch a lot of television but I just like having it on. It comforts me. Sometimes I leave it on even when I'm not watching anything. It keeps me company. It was my friend. And now my friend is gone and all I have to listen to is screaming kids running circles around me. Oy vey!
